Between the discipline of hypnotic house, the complexity of layered rhythmic structures, and IDM’s penchant for disorientation, Bambounou has spent over a decade shaping a sound both fluid and unruly. From early releases on 50Weapons to more stripped-back, conceptual work on AD93, he has honed a language of unresolved tension — where groove slips just out of reach, inviting curiosity without ever losing momentum. Through BAMBE, his own testing ground, he pushes this approach toward its rawest form: club music reduced to its most direct, percussive essence. Whether in solo releases (Cascade, The Life of a Touring DJ) or in close creative exchanges with Bruce (Final Conference) and Priori (C.R.U.S.H.), each record reflects a meticulous attention to detail and a desire to pry open rhythm, to explore its fractures. His remixes follow the same instinct for divergence, bending tracks by Moby or Sampha to reveal unexpected contours.
In the booth, that same sensitivity to surprise and balance runs through his sets — a winding line between organic house, warped electronics, and percussive breaks, drawing dancers into spaces that reward both surrender and close listening.
With Levantarse, his latest solo project, Bambounou begins a prolific new chapter, using pulse as a pretext to delve deeper into fine textures and shifting forms. A music that moves forward without settling, attentive to vertigo as much as to detail.
